Using movable-do solfège and Curwen hand signs, Choir Ninja Ear Training reinforces the musical skills introduced throughout the Choir Ninja Sight-Reading curriculum. Each belt level provides opportunities for students to hear, sing, recognize, and internalize the melodic patterns and pitch relationships they encounter in their sight-reading exercises.

Rather than teaching ear training and sight-reading as separate skills, Choir Ninja connects the two, helping students develop a stronger understanding of the music they perform.

The complete curriculum features 283 presentation slides across 10 progressive belt levels, from White Belt through Grandmaster.

Activities include:

Call & Repeat: Students echo teacher-led solfège patterns using their voices and Curwen hand signs. Daily Patterns encourage independent pitch recognition and strengthen melodic memory.

Call & Answer: Students recognize a designated melodic Call and respond with a corresponding Answer. As students advance, patterns become more challenging, developing attentive listening, pitch recall, and musical independence.

Notated Patterns: Students practice reading and singing short musical examples that reinforce the pitch relationships, intervals, and rhythmic concepts introduced in their sight-reading lessons.
